The Rochester Ridgemen compete in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. The NYCBL, founded in 1978, is a summer wood bat league sanctioned by the NCAA and partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league gives college players who have not yet signed a professional contract the opportunity to develop their skills at a higher level of play, gain experience with wood bats, and be evaluated by scouts. The NYCBL is located in scenic Upstate New York.
The Ridgemen play their home games at
Carm Urzetta Field at Bishop Kearney
Extra Fun Built In
While in Upstate NY, we take time to enjoy the amazing beauty and fun in our backyard. Summer fun includes trips to Lake Ontario, Niagara Falls, and the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
Housing
Players are assigned in pairs to an amazing host family for the first 10 days. Then for the next six weeks, players will stay at the Selects Academy Dorms at Bishop Kearney.
Complete Athlete
To reach the highest levels of success in life, we focus on developing your body, mind and spirit. We achieve this through daily sessions in the gym and on the field with trainers/coaches, weekly times in the classroom with chaplains/business leaders, and monthly community events with Challenger Baseball, and local Little Leagues.
Teams play a 40 game regular season schedule with games beginning in June and ending in the last week in July. All games are 9 innings, and doubleheaders are 7 innings. The All-Star game will be played in early July, and the League Championship Series concludes in the last week of July.
Many current and former Major League Players have spent a summer playing in the NYCBL including the players below:
